I find inspiration in the most diverse aspects of nature, from leaves’ veins and rocks’ patterns, to human emotions and social interactions. These visual and psychological cues merge in my creative process, shaping both the aesthetics and conceptual dimension of my work. My practice aims to abstract the human experience by exploring universal themes such as identity, imperfection, loneliness, healing, and growth.
My scientific background emerges in my fascination with clay’s materiality, from the translucency of porcelain to the rawness of wild clays, and the chemistry behind glaze making. I am drawn to clay’s tactile, flexible nature.
I work intuitively, guided by emotional intent rather than the ideal of reaching a final form. My process is a co-creation: a dialogue where clay and my hands respond to each other, and a negotiation between my inner feelings and the clay’s own voice. I never know when a piece is finished until it just is.
While abstracting emotion often calls for lightness, my process-driven approach to making introduces a tension between the ephemeral and the visceral. I aim to evoke a dissonant response in the viewer: a simultaneous sense of attraction and unease that reflects the contradiction of being human.
Alongside my artistic and reflective practice, I love to have some fun in the studio, making functional ware inspired by nature and cats for art and craft markets or for commissions.
